Luke ReturnsTarnya's brother has been for the last nine months cycling around the world . He chose to go east. Starting in Canada, through France, Italy, Venice, Sicily, Albania, Macedonia, Greece, Turkey, Iran , Pakistan, Tibet, Southern China, Laos, Thailand and Australia about 26,000 km on a bike.

Joel Green is an academic, an author, and a pastor. He is a regular preacher and speaker for local churches,
para-church groups, conferences and institutes. The year 2001 saw him named in 2000 Outstanding Intellectuals of the 21st Century.
Joel has authored a number of books. I have just finished reading What About the Soul? Neuroscience and Christian
Anthropology (I read it while Tarnya was in labour!) I have started In Search of the Soul: Four Views of The Mind-Body Problem. Joel's perspective on neuroscience has important implications for a biblical understanding of human nature, especially from a Conditionalist
perspective, which is why we (The Conditional Immortality Association) asked him to come.
Baby Tim ArrivesOne Step Closer To our Own Page In The Phone Book
The name we chose seems appropriate in the circumstances. Timothy means, "Honouring God". Joel means, "Yahweh is the Lord". I was reluctant to go down to Wellington and Christchurch with Joel Green because I didn't want to be away and miss the birth of our baby. Tarnya felt I should go; that it would be good for our ministry; it would be honouring God. So, with Tarnya's blessing, I said I would go. We had to trust that the Lord was in control, that "Yahweh is the Lord". Indeed he is the Lord and he is in control. On Wednesday 14, at 10:00am our seventh child, Timothy Joel, was born. Mother and little Timothy (9 Ib 3 oz) are well! There will be no unexpected interruptions during Joel Green's visit and I am now looking forward to traveling! And we are well on the way to filling a whole page of the phone book with Burges.

September -- Its a happy "one week" birthday for Timothy Joel
Burge. It was some time back when we chose the name, Timothy for the new little boy we were expecting.
We were struggling to think of a second name, until Dave was having dinner at Brian and
Janet Cooney's home. Janet asked, "So when's this Joel coming?" (Referring
to Joel Green above). Brian heard and, thinking we were talking of the new baby, asked, "Is that the new baby?" "No," I said, "but that gives me an idea.
