Kavita's Dollhouse
Page 3

OK, Had to happen sooner or later.

Page three. Includes a slightly different topic because Mum's finally commandeered babies dollhouse and made it "out of bounds" so I've had to start putting together a smaller dollhouse for baby to play with. (actually baby doesn't care if it's out of bounds, she still uses it.)

Fortunately, thanks to the generosity of Greenleaf Dollhouses I just happen to have the perfect solution. Their Haunted House kit. However this won't be a haunted house of course. It's be occupied by little mices. (Meeces?)

So here, just quickly, are some up to date pictures of babies first house, still unfinished, followed by some pictures of the new house as it stands at the moment.
I'm still deciding on colours and finishes.
It mounted on a Turn table I nicked out of a mates boat seat. Makes it easy for baby to turn it around back to front etc. while being very strong and stable.

Babies Haunted House

(Sort of.)

Boy these houses take a long time to make.
As you can see this is a llllooooonnnngggg way from finished but we'll get there. Got some cool wallpaper from the lhs and I'm going to put the stairs together without the back kickboards so you can see through them, should keep the room looking a descent size.
How some ladies manage to make one in a few weeks beats me.

Check out babies new accessories. Finally managed to get some after looking for months and months (years actually)

Not to sure about the scale of the Go-Kart but the rest are right.

Two new developments0.
animated christmas tree with lightssanta on his sleigh

One is I made a Christmas tree for the house. Making the tree was fun, making the lights work was cool but going on a treasure hunt for the ornaments was a blast.

Second development is the making of a basement for the house. This is proving an interesting exercise as I want to put roller doors and motorize them where everyone else says make them manual. Now where's the fun in that????
Anyway, I'm taking the base into work in a couple of days to make the mechanisms so we'll see how it pans out.

Babies Garage (Basement).

Finally got it done. Lots of wires and things. Very frustrating. Anyway, only have to put an external power supply cable and put in place.
All lots of fun.
And yes they are electric up and down. Baby loves it. Just difficult to make it all child proof.

One happy little camper. And now mum and baby are already asking for the boat to go in the garage.

Next project for baby's dollhouse. 1/12 scale 21' CSB Huntsman complete with working outboard motor and remote controls on a tandem trailer.
It’ll either be vacuum formed or I'll cast it in Epoxy resin. Depends how the upper and lower moulds turn out. The results from fiberglass tend to be more predictable and accurate but vacuum forming is quick and easy.
Well hey, it's a big garage. Have to have something to fill it. And a job to keep mini Barbie on the ground. huh.gif Expect it will take about 3 months.

OOooppss, Mini Barbie was a bit keen
and made these fly and game rods before she
 got the boat.

Progress pictures. Ignore the window, it's just a temp mock up. Slowly gaining the curves it's supposed to have.

Check out the trailer dude. Just have to add two more roller guides, (eight more little wheels), lights, mudguards and winch.

Update 28/3/08
Babies Haunted House (not)

Finally did some more work on the house. Put in the wall paper, trims, staircase and a garden of sorts. Kavita decided on the garden and did a lot of the painting.
Cool aye??

It's sitting on a lazy Suzanne (spelling) incase your wondering so she can turn it around.
I've got some roses to put in the garden but we're waiting until after babies 4th party to put them in so they don't get damaged.

19/03/09

Well I finally got around (forced) into doing some more work on the house. Mainly because babies 5th birthday is coming up and as one of the people coming is a builder I know he'll notice the little "finishing touches I've failed to do so far.
So, moldings. I pulled out the timber I've had sitting around for months and got into baseboard, crown moldings and case moldings. (Don't you love the terminology?)

It really has transformed the house imho. In particular the kitchen which was a true embarrassment as far as I was concerned. Adding that and making a rimu casing to go around the survery wall really added some finish to the room. (Must get onto making a stove, dishwasher, sink and BBQ.) Now the windows look like they are supposed to be there.
The piano room is another area which particularly suited this effort. Now it's got me upgrading the lights in a couple of the bedrooms but that's no big deal. Still it's not all finished yet. There are two more rooms and the garage to go yet. Still, we don't like to rush these things do we. After all, what little you see here is over 17 hours painting and fitting.
Missus has got me back working on the boat. Man, you spend all that time sanding down to a perfect finish, ad a coat of paint and realize it's not even near smooth. *#@^$*@^%

Check this out. Baby's new fairy house.

Cheers
