GWS Spitfire MkXIV (very highly modified) 1/12

OK, yes I confess I finally caved and bought a GWS spitfire to play with. My blue foam spitfire "thing" just wasn't doing it for me anymore.

Thus I embarked on modifying the somewhat stubby GWS into the longer Mk XIV by inserting 28mm into the nose and then reshaping the engine cowl.

All up the model has taken over 30 hours to do (gosh that sounds a long time). Mostly spent on setting up the retracts to angle well forward as they lower. This has resulted in ZERO tendency to tip on its nose during takeoff.
The fuselage has also been strengthened with several strips of fiberglass down each side, top and bottom of the wings leading edge of wings and some carbon rod down the centre of the plane.

Completed weight with retracts, glass, 800Mah (best performance and 7 minute flights) or 1500Mah (12 minute areobatic flights) 460 grams, 500 grams respectively.

End result,
Well right from it's very first flight this has been an absolute dream to fly and I love the look of it in the air.
The retracts are great although I tend to belly land on the grass for the sake of simplicity but taking off and watching the plane transform into a wheel less fighter is great.

I love this parkfly. And it really does easily fly in one football field and is fully aerobatic. How it flies inverted with that wing I don't know but it does so easily. I easily score it a 11/10.
