Sitting right on the airport at Whitianga is the Mercury Bay Model club.
Flying at this site we are very spoilt. Not only is it one of the largest and clearest areas in the country to fly, but being next to a Speed way and on an airport there are few restrictions on flying times.
Seems to me the main rule followed by it's members is relax and don't take flying to seriously. (Actually all usual NZMAA rules apply, it's just so relaxed you can't tell.) Flying is generally done one person at a time which leads to faster learning and less stress. Definitely a great way to spend the day.
