Island Bay Bowling Club (Inc.)

Formed in 1917, the Island Bay Bowling Club has been a key component of the local community for more than 75 years.

The club is committed to supply quality bowling facilities to Wellingtons southern suburbs.

We have a growing membership of both Full Playing and Social members who enjoy the two natural greens and a new clubhouse that was opened in August 2007.

The clubhouse has a bar, big screen TV, gaming machines, food and a variety of other facilities.

Visitors and new members are always welcome so pop in and make yourself known to any of the members and try your hand at the game of bowls.

The Facilities

THE BAR

Great club prices and a large selection of beer, wine and spirits make this the focal point of the club when the bowling has finished.

Situated next to the bar is a lounge which contains a big screen TV and a few pokies.

This area is very popular on a Friday night where regulars gather to have a few drinks, a meal and socialise.

THE GREENS

The club has two natural Cotula greens measuring 33.6 by 33.6 meters.

Due to the clubs costal location the sand base allows the greens to drain quickly in the event of rain.

THE KITCHEN

The professional kitchen has all the equpiment one would expect in a working kitchen.

Very reasonably priced meals are available on Friday evenings
during the bowling season and the menu is posted on the blackboard just outside the service window.

If hiring the function area there are various different catering options available so talk to the staff to discuss these.

A BBQ is also available on request.

THE FUNCTION AREA

This large area can be hired for private and corporate functions.

It has wheelchair access and is situated between the bar and the kitchen. The layout of the area can be altered to suit the type of function and a microphone and speaker system are supplied.

THE LIMO SERVICE

Unfortunately, with the rapidly rising price of petrol, this
service has been discontinued.

A 747 uses less fuel than this thing and is quieter.
