Silent Model Flight

The club enjoys the use of flying sites near the city dedicated to Thermal Soaring.

Radio Controlled gliders are launched by a winch or bungy line to several hundred feet high. They rely on the skill of the pilot to find and exploit the thermal up draughts to extend the flight.



Regular friendly competitions are organised. See separate page of events for details.

Most of the Thermal Soaring competitions are run nationally with the local results being sent to the Model Aircraft Association. These a are the National Decentralised Championship (or NDC) contests referred to in the upcoming calendar of events.
